Email 10/3/2011 regarding bid date (Thursday, October 6, 2011 @2:00 PM) Legal Ad Town of Ledyard GENERAL:The Town of Ledyard is seeking bids for the removal/demolition of two modular classrooms totaling 2100 square feet, located at the former Gales Ferry Elementary School site, 7 Hurlbutt Rd., Gales Ferry, Connecticut. The buildings, used as classrooms until June of 2001 are custom units purchased from and installed by Arthur Building Systems (now Re-Sun Leasing) in 1995. Each classroom is approximately 30 feet by 35 feet and consists of three 10 feet by 35 feet modules. The classrooms are linked to the school by a site built corridor and are installed on 28, 16” square concrete piers over 30” diameter concrete footings. Sealed proposals will be received by the Director of Finance, Ledyard Town Hall, 741 Colonel Ledyard Highway, Ledyard, CT. 06339, until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 5, 2011 at which time they will be opened and read aloud. Proposals received after that time will not be accepted and will be returned to the bidder unopened. Proposals must be clearly marked “SEALED BID #2012-8, Demolition/Removal GF Portable Classrooms”. DETAILS: Classroom 1 780 net square feet with two exterior doors. Includes electrical closet, 4’x8’ tack board and 4”x8” chalkboard. No bathroom facilities. Classroom 2 803 square feet, net with two exterior doors. Includes 4’x8’ tack board and 4’x8’ chalkboard. No bathroom facilities. Requirements: The successful bidder must make all necessary arrangements to remove/demolish the classrooms, coordinate with all appropriate town and state officials, must notify the Town when the classrooms will be removed and must remove the classrooms within thirty days of contract of award. The site must be left clean of all debris from the removal of the classrooms. In the bid, the bidder must state whether the classrooms are to be moved or demolished (including the access corridor and foundation piers) and either the location of the new site for the classrooms or an approved location for the demolition debris. All salvage value will accrue to the successful bidder. Bids should indicate either cost to the Town or price to be paid the Town. The classrooms are sold in “as is” condition, no warranties are included and the sale will be final. The Town will hold one mandatory pre-bid inspection at the site on September 28, 2011 at 10:00 AM, at 7 Hurlbutt Road.
