Legal Ad Town of Ledyard SPECIFICATIONS GENERAL: The Town of Ledyard is seeking proposals for the lease of two Town owned parcel of land for agricultural use. The Town’s goal is to encourage local agricultural and to put the properties in to active agricultural use. 1025 Colonel Ledyard Highway: 102.16 Acres 1087 Colonel Ledyard Highway: 45.6 Acres Sealed proposals will be received by the Director of Finance, Ledyard Town Hall, 741 Colonel Ledyard Highway, Ledyard, CT. 06339, until 2:00 p.m., Thursday 29 September, 2011 at which time they will be opened and read aloud. Proposals received after that time will not be accepted and will be returned to the bidder unopened. Proposals must be clearly marked “SEALED BID #2012-9, Lease of Town Owned Land”. DETAILS: A-2 Surveys of each property, depicting easements and wetland areas are included with this request. Requirements: Bidders may offer proposals for the lease of all or just a portion of either of the properties. Proposals should include: A description of the area to be leased Price to be paid the Town for the lease A description of the proposed bidder’s qualifications and agricultural experience Any special requirements required by the bidder Lease term requested by the bidder (The Town would like to retain flexibility with the use of the property; however, it also, realizes that the value of the lease is impacted by its terms and will consider up to a five year lease commitment provided agricultural use continues to benefit the Town. Should the Town desire to utilize the property for other than agriculturally use, a one year notice period would be provided the leaser. The land is offered in “as is” condition, no warranties are included. The successful bidder will be required on an annual basis to provide the Town with a list of fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or other “agents” applied to the soil. None of the wetland areas depicted on the property surveys should be impacted by agricultural activities. The town reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, to waive technical and minor defects, and make an award for what it deems to be in the town's best interest.
